Lecture “Preform and fiber activities at IPHT – The Optical Fiber Technology group”
On 15 August 2017 Dr.Kay Schuster, Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology in Jena visited our institute. Kay Schuster received a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry at Karlsruhe Institute of technology in 1995. Since 1996 he works it the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) in Jena. Kay Schuster is currently head of department of the Optical Fiber Technology. This group performs the complete development of new types of fibers, starting from production preforms (MCVD, stacking), fiber drawing, characterization and postprocessing to the aplications.Such fibers might be active, passive as well as the other type of fibres.
On 15 August 2017 Dr.Kay Schuster gave a public lecture entitled “Preform and fiber activities at IPHT – The Optical Fiber Technology group” in the lecture hall of ISI CAS. The lecture was realized within the project European Structural and Investment Funds Operational Programme Research, Development and Education.
The lecture was attended by more than twenty scientists and afterwards a very interesting discussion followed. The Kay Schuster Group will be a major collaborator of Gate2mu project, especially thanks to the ability to develop specialized fibers for displaying.
