Celebrating international success in materials science!

Ondřej Ambrož from the Microscopy for Materials Science research group, Department of Electron Microscopy, at the Institute  (ISI CAS), has been awarded 3rd place in the prestigious Metallography Contest 2025!

The contest was organized by StudyMeta (Metallurgical Engineering) in collaboration with Struers, a global leader in metallographic equipment, and attracted entries from a community of over 300,000 professionals in metallurgy and materials engineering.

Ondřej’s winning image, titled “Intermetallic Valentine”, showcases a light microscopy view of AlSi9Cu3(Fe) alloy etched with Weck’s reagent. A heart-shaped cavity filled with aluminum alloy is visible within the intermetallic phase α-AlFeMnSi. Captured in bright field at 1000× magnification.
